Candidate Fitness
There are a number of practical sessions on all courses, these will include CPR – Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and the placement of casualties into the Recovery Position. Candidates must be able to achieve these practical skills to be awarded certification.
Any physical disability or illness that may hinder participation on the course should be highlighted prior to commencement of the course.

Course Duration
Candidates must attend the entire course in order to gain their certification.
Any issues which might prevent full attendance should be raised with the trainer at the earliest opportunity.
Training Facilities
On site training will be carried out, however due to the demands of the assessment process on some courses, training facilities will need to be checked prior to commencement of the course.
This check will ensure that:
- The room large enough to comfortably seat and accommodate the number of candidates attending and that there is sufficient space for candidates to carry out the practical sessions.
- Suitable heating, lighting, ventilation.
- First Aid Training – South West will do their utmost to accommodate the client, however if the premises are not suitable then a local venue may have to be sought which could have some bearing on costs.
Bookings
Course bookings and enquires can be made via phone or using the contact sheet on this web site. We will respond to all enquires as a matter of urgency. Bookings will always be confirmed in writing prior to course commencement.
Payment Terms
- Payment for individual course placements must be made in full prior to commencement.
- For company course bookings, payment must be received within 21 days of receipt of the invoice.
- We accept cheque, electronic bank transfer or cash as means of payment, the payment details are shown on the invoice.
- Certificates will be held until full payment is received.
Cancellation
Course cancellations should be made in initially by telephone followed by a written submission by the client and will carry the following charges.
The charges will be as follows:
- 21 days or more Full refund
- 10 – 21 days 50% of total cost
- Less than 10 days No Refund
In the unlikely event of First Aid Training – South West having to cancel a course, they will do so initially by telephone this will be followed up in writing up to 72 hours prior to course commencement.
We will either refund any monies paid or candidates will be transferred to another course of their choice.
Candidate Substitution
First Aid Training – South West will accept short notice candidate substitutions but we would ask that any changes or substitutions are advised at the earliest opportunity; also any changes to the original booking in respect of numbers attending should also be notified as soon as possible.
Certification
All candidates are required to print and sign their names on the course attendance sheet, certificates will be issued based on this information and spelling given.
If a duplicate or replacement is required, there will be an administration charge of £6.50 per certificate.
Candidates who have failed to complete the course attendance sheet will not receive certification.
Complaints
Complaints should be taken up with the trainer at the time of the course. If however you are not satisfied with the result, a written complaint must be made within 14 days and should be addressed to Derek Robinson, First Aid Training SW, Office 7 (J Luffman), Maidendown Stage, Burlescombe, Devon EX16 7JX
You will be contacted within 2 working days to discuss the complaint and to hopefully resolve any issue.
