Emergency First Aid at Work
One Day
Your First Aid assessment may identify the need for Emergency First Aiders, or you may require additional support for your First Aiders or if your business might be considered low risk. It is your businesses responsibility to determine the first aid needs of your particular business.
This course will meet the needs of being an Emergency First Aider as laid down by the Health & Safety Executive (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
Duration
This course is delivered over 6 hours
Courses can be arranged to suit shift patterns, including night shifts, or weekends by negotiation.
Course Syllabus
- Legalities, responsibilities, record keeping and reporting
- Aims and principles of first aid
- Assessment of the situation
- Basic Hygiene in First Aid
- Dealing with an unconsciousness casualty
- Shock
- Resuscitation / CPR / AED (Defibrillator instruction is now a mandatory item on all first aid courses)
- Bleeding Control
- Seizures
- Heart Attacks
- Choking
- Minor Injuries
Assessment and Certification
Assessment is ongoing by the instructor after which all successful candidates will receive an HSE approved Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate valid for three years.
This syllabus is in line with the current Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
It is recommended that candidates attend an annual 3 hour refresher programme, although not mandatory
Numbers
A maximum of 12 people can be accommodated on this course and candidates must be aged 16 years or over.
Venue
Courses can be arranged at your premises subject to a pre-course assessment of the facilities or at a local off site venue.
