Where your assessment has determined the need for First Aiders to maintain their qualification then this Refresher course will meet that need.

In essence it will cover the syllabus of the 3 Day First at Work course and will meet the statutory requirements of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

Duration

  • This course is delivered over 2 days / 12 hours
  • It can be delivered over 2 consecutive days (preferred) or split over 2 separate days to suit the needs of the client.
  • Courses can be arranged to suit shift patterns, including night shifts or weekends by negotiation.

Course Syllabus

  • Legalities,  responsibilities, record keeping and reporting
  • Aims and principles of first aid
  • Assessment of the situation
  • Dealing with an unconsciousness casualty
  • Shock
  • Resuscitation / CPR
  • Airway and breathing problems including Asthma
  • Wounds, bleeding and bandaging
  • Burns, Poisoning
  • Eye Injuries
  • Injuries to bones, joints & muscles.
  • Diabetes, Choking, Epilepsy, Anaphylaxis
  • Sprains, Strains
  • Prevention of cross infection
  • If you business has a specific requirement requiring more in-depth coverage then this can be accommodated also.

Assessment and Certification

All candidates will be required to complete an assessment after which all successful candidates will receive an HSE approved First Aid at Work Certificate valid for three years.

This syllabus is in line with the current Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

Numbers

A maximum of 12 people can be accommodated on this course and candidates must be aged 16 years or over and each candidate must have a valid First Aid at Work certificate to attend this course.

Venue

Courses can be arranged at your premises subject to a pre-course assessment of the facilities or at a local off site venue.
