first aid at work (3 Day)
First aid at work training courses are suitable for anyone who has volunteered or has been nominated by their employer to fulfil the statutory duty of care as laid down by the Health & Safety Executive (First Aid ) Regulations 1981. This course will provide you with suitable, highly trained personnel who can deal with an emergency in a safe, prompt and effective manner.

Duration
- This course is delivered over 3 days / 18 hours
- It can be delivered over 3 consecutive days or split over 3 separate days to suit the needs of the client.
- Courses can be arranged to suit shift patterns, including night shifts or weekends by negotiation.
Course Syllabus
- Legalities, responsibilities, record keeping and reporting
- Aims and principles of first aid
- Assessment of the situation
- Dealing with an unconsciousness casualty
- Shock
- Resuscitation / CPR
- Airway and breathing problems including Asthma
- Wounds, bleeding and bandaging
- Burns, Poisoning
- Eye Injuries
- Injuries to bones, joints & muscles.
- Diabetes, Choking, Epilepsy, Anaphylaxis
- Sprains, Strains
- Prevention of cross infection

Assessment and Certification
All candidates will be required to complete an assessment after which all successful candidates will receive an HSE approved First Aid at Work Certificate valid for three years.
This syllabus is in line with the current Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
The qualification which is valid for 3 years can be renewed by attending a suitable Two Day re-qualification course.
Numbers
A maximum of 12 people can be accommodated on this course and candidates must be aged 16 years or over.
Venue
Courses can be arranged at your premises subject to a pre-course assessment of the facilities or at a local off site venue.
